REQUIREMENTS FOR SUPERVISORS

Requirements for Supervisors of Experience for those Pursuing Certification

1. At the time of supervision, supervisors must hold the BCBA or BCBA-D credential or be a licensed or registered psychologist certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology who was tested in Applied Behavior Analysis; AND

2. Pass an 8-hour, competency-based training covering the BACB’s Supervisor Training Curriculum Outline; AND

3. Pass an online, competency-based training module on BACB experience standards available through the BACB Gateway; AND

4. Ensure all supervisees have passed the online, competency-based training module on BACB experience standards available through the BACB Gateway; AND

5. Obtain 3 hours of continuing education related to supervision during each certification cycle.

Once a BACB certificant has met requirements 1-3 above, his or her certificant registry entry will include the following statement: “Meets 2015 Standards for Supervision Requirements to supervise Exam Candidates as of DATE.” The date shown is the date the certificant became eligible to begin providing this type of supervision.

Requirements for Supervisors of BCaBAs and RBTs

1. At the time of supervision, supervisors must hold the BCBA, BCBA-D, or BCaBA credential (BCaBAs may supervise RBTs only) or be a licensed or registered psychologist certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology who was tested in Applied Behavior Analysis; AND

2. Pass an 8-hour, competency-based training covering the BACB’s Supervisor Training Curriculum Outline; AND

3. Obtain 3 hours of continuing education related to supervision during each certification cycle.

Once a certificant has met the requirements above, his or her certificant registry entry will include the following statement: “Meets 2015 Standards for Supervision Requirements to supervise either BCaBAs or RBTs as of DATE.” The date shown is the date the certificant became eligible to begin providing this type of supervision.
